This initiative will enhance how elected/public officials, business leaders, developers, and the public understand what shapes the housing market.

We will be joined by special guests including:
- Jim Tobin, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), has more than 25 years of association experience and a diverse housing policy background.
Jim?s tenure at NAHB began in 1998 as a Congressional Representative for the western US, and he quickly broadened his policy expertise to the environmental and tax policy arenas. Most recently, Jim served at the association?s Executive Vice President and Chief Lobbyist responsible for directing the federal, state and local lobbying, as well as political activities for NAHB.
Jim was promoted to CEO in June 2023 and has achieved the Certified Association Executive (C.A.E.) credential from the American Society of Association Executives.
Prior to joining NAHB, Jim served as Senior Legislative Assistant to former U.S. Representative Frank Riggs (CA) and former U.S. Representative Gary Franks (CT).
Jim holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Connecticut. He lives in Falls Church, Virginia, with his wife and their two children. - Danushka Nanayakkara-Skillington, is NAHB?s Assistant Vice President for Forecasting and Analysis. She oversees the activities of the Forecasting & Analysis section of the Economics group which includes housing market analysis, industry surveys, developing and maintaining national, regional, long-term, and remodeling expenditures forecasts. Previously, she worked at NAHB as a Senior Economist, responsible for state and local analysis. Prior to joining NAHB, Danushka worked at J.D. Power as a Senior Economic Analyst in the automotive industry. She holds a B.A. degree in Economics and Business Administration from Otterbein University and M.A. degree in Applied Economics from Johns Hopkins University.
- Chris Mothorpe, PhD, is an associate professor and chair of the Department of Economics at the College of Charleston. Dr. Mothorpe?s research is concentrated in real estate economics and focuses on the impact of spatial amenities on real estate markets. Mothorpe has published research in various academic journals including Regional Science and Urban Economics, Resources and Energy Economics, Journal of Real Estate Research, Journal of Housing Research, and The Appraisal Journal. Prior to his appointment at the College of Charleston, Mothorpe earned a PhD in economics from Georgia State University and a master of science in economics and a bachelor of science in applied mathematics from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
- Will Jenkinson, is the Broker in Charge of Carolina One New Homes, a full-service New Homes Sales and Marketing operation within Carolina One Real Estate Services with operations in Charleston, Myrtle Beach, Wilmington and Charlotte. Established in 1994, Carolina One New Homes represents developers, regional and local homebuilders throughout the region. Over the last several years, they have added their Land Services Group which helps identify new land opportunities, as well as their Custom Homes Group, to provide a high level of specialized services to the local custom builders in the region. Jenkinson is responsible for the day-to-day operation with a focus on procuring new business and maintaining the current business of the company. Ge graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from The Citadel in 1999 and resides in Mt. Pleasant with his wife and 3 children. Will has been with Carolina One Real Estate Services since 2000 and has been leading Carolina One New Homes since 2006.
